Little Island Pond is located in the
Little Island Pond Conservation Area which lies just north of the community. Circumnavigating
Little Island Pond is an easy, relatively flat hike with very few challenges. The 1.75 mile (150 foot vertical) walk around the pond will take you about an hour if you stop often to appreciate the view.

The route in the image above (in red) allows you to walk the entire circumference of the pond on well established trails and forest roads. The trail segment on the west side of the pond is a narrow foot trail. The trail segment on the east side of the pond is a forest road.
HINT: These are unimproved trails and forest roads so waterproof hiking boots are advisable during wet periods. However, walking shoes would be perfectly suitable when it's dry.
Where To Begin
You can start and end your circumnavigation of Little Island Pond from within the community at the Great Pointe Path.
Below are some photographs taken in March, 2007 at the land bridge (Waypoint #4) that separates Little Island Pond from the cranberry bog to the north. The picture on the left shows the land bridge with the pond on the right and the bog on the left. The picture on the right was taken of the pond facing south.
Waypoint #4
The cranberry bog pump house can be seen in the center of the photograph. Cranberry bogs are flooded to harvest the fruit, remove fallen leaves, protect the plants from the cold, drying winds of winter and to control pests.
