Turn #12 takes you from the forest road that leads from the pond amenity (over private property) onto a footpath that exits onto White Trellis.
START (Cottage Cove)
#1

Turn #1 is at the intersection of two foot trails about 792 feet from Cottage Cove. There is a trail entering from the right that comes down from Savery Road. The trail on your left leads to the pond. After your side-trip to the pond, go straight from here to continue your journey around the pond.

Turn #2 takes you onto a foot-path that leads to the pond and a small beach. This location is your best view of the lower end of the pond.

At Turn #3, the foot-path intersects with a forest road. Both directions will take you around the pond.
Taking the forest road straight ahead, thru a deeply cut roadway, leads you to Turn #5 where you bear right to continue around the pond.
However, taking the forest road to your left, towards the pond, is the most interesting.
First you'll encounter a make-shift paintball battlefield with plywood blinds that the players hide behind. Look for the spherical paintballs on the ground.
Also, past the battlefield, on your left, you'll find a small plaque in the ground placed there in memory of a kid who got killed at the beach there in an accident involving a rope swing.

Turn #4 starts on your right just before the forest road ends. This foot-path continues around the pond. NOTE: This trail leads thru a wet area. You may want to avoid this path when it's really wet by back-tracking along the road to Turn #3.

Turn #5 is where the foot-path meets the forest road you encountered at Turn #3. Proceed to your left.

Turn #6 is a three way intersection of forest roads with an island in the middle. The road to your right leads back to Savery Road. The road to your left continues your journey around the pond.
#7

Turn #7 is a private road that exits left from the main forest road, leading into private property. What you'll find along this road is a collapsed house just before you reach a small beach and the pond. From the pond, retrace your steps back to the main forest road.
#8

Turn #8 and 9 is a four way intersection of forest roads with an island in the middle, located at the man-made outlet of the pond. To the right, the forest road leads to cranberry bogs, straight ahead leads north to Little Island Pond. Bear left to continue your trip around Great Island Pond.

Turn #10 is at the intersection of the forest road and a foot-path on your left that leads to the small beach on the northern end of the pond.

Turn # 11 leads back to the community, which is about 1082 feet from the pond. Climb north-east untill you reach the top of the hill. There will be a wide foot path on your left that leads to the Great Point Trail.
NOTE: The forest road (Island Pond Road) on your right leads past the homes at the end of Misty Knoll and Millers Joist. The foot-path on your left leads along the pond and emerges behind the homes at the end of Great Pointe.
