Circumnavigating Great Island Pond is an easy, relatively flat hike with very few challenges. The 2.44 mile (100 foot vertical) walk around the pond will take you a couple of hours if you stop often to appreciate the view.

The route in the image above (in yellow) allows you to walk the entire circumference of the pond on well established trails and forest roads. However, most of this route is off of community property on land owned by the Town of Plymouth.
Also shown are some dead-end paths that are worthwhile side-trips (adding < ½ mile to the total trip) that generally lead to the shore of the pond. NOTE: The path that leads to waypoint #3 passes thru private property although the property is uninhabited.
HINT: These are unimproved trails and forest roads so waterproof hiking boots are advisable during wet periods. However, walking shoes would be perfectly suitable when it's dry.
