Little Island Pond Conservation Area

Little Island Pond Conservation Area

Little Island Pond is in the center of the photograph. Great Island Pond is in the lower-right hand corner. Great Island's 'Little Island Pond' (above) is in the lower center of the photograph.

The Little Island Pond Conservation Area lies just north of the community. This 122-acre parcel, owned by the Town of Plymouth, encompasses most of Little Island Pond*. The area has good hiking trails, varied wildlife and good fishing.

You can circumnavigate the pond on well established trails and forest roads, beginning and ending your journey from within the community. There is also a foot trail that runs thru the conservation area.

Notice the heavy pine forestation in the conservation area aerial photograph visible in this spring photo taken before leaf-out.

*NOTE: The large pond in the Little Island Pond Conservation Area is called Long Island Pond by the USGS, the state and by the EPA. It is called Little Island Pond by the Town of Plymouth and on some maps (Google Maps, for example).
