Great Island Pond's North Beach

This little beach (on property owned by the Town of Plymouth) would be quite beautiful if it weren't for the trash left behind by the kids who party there and the people who use the area for bulk waste disposal.
This beach is often cleaned up by a 75 year old homeowner (not a Great Island resident) who lives on the dirt road that lies to the north of the pond. My understaanding is that he cleans the beach on a weekly basis during the summer.
The sandy beach (Waypoint #11) can be accessed from the foot path located between 24 and 28 Great Pointe or from Island Pond Road (a dirt road just south of the Transfer Station)
NOTE: You don't want to lay in the sand in the middle of this beach, you'll get run over by a kid on a four-wheeler.

Left: The Town of Plymouth charges an $8 disposal fee for each tire, so this pile represents about $240 in lost revenue for the town. |
