Facilities Maintenance
Great Island hires a part-time maintenance person who provides general maintenance of the Clubhouse and other facilites in the community such as replacing the light bulbs on our walking trails.
Community Management
Great Island contracts community management services to a private management company. The management company manages the landscape services, snow removal services, clubhouse operations and helps with the budget preparation.
If you have any issues with the management company, you should contact someone on the HOA advisory committee.
Lifestyle Director
The Lifestyle Director coordinates the lectures, events, meetings, trips and clubs available to residents of the community and coordinates the use of the ammenties. The Lifestyle Director assumes the responsibility for assisting clubs with facility scheduling, special programs and publicity/promotion. This individual is the focal point for coordinating all Association Club matters of interest.
Mail Delivery
Mailboxes are located in the connector corridor at the Clubhouse. The Post Office assigns keys and boxes to residents according to street addresses. The Post Office does not deliver letters to your home.
If you receive a USPS package that will fit in the parcel box located near your mail box, a numbered key fob will be left in your mailbox. The key will open the parcel boxes matching the number on the fob. USPS package that will not fit in the parcel box are delivered to you home and left at your front door.
If you're collecting your mail around 10:30am, you may run into Ester placing mail into the Great Island mailboxes. Ester works for the U.S. Postal Service.
Trash Collection
Great Island contracts for trash removal services to a private hauling contractor. If a homeowner has trash collection issues, they should contact the management company.
Trash must be at curbside no later than 6:00 am on Wednesdays.
The hauling contractor provides a 96-gallon bin with wheels (no charge) for your use. If you prefer to use your own barrels, you are allowed 2 thirty-gallon barrels.
NOTE: The trash removal service does not include separate pickups for difficult to manage items such as CRT's (See Plymouth Recycling below).
Great Island Recycles
Great Island's trash removal contract also provides 'single-stream' curbside recycling. Single-stream recycling means that you do not have to separate your recyclables. The recycle pick up days are the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Recycling bins are provided.

Lawn Maintenance
Great Island contracts for lawn maintenance services to a private landscaping contractor. If a homeowner has specific concerns with respect to fertilization or does not want to be fertilized on a given application, they should contact the landscaping contractor.
Due to the heavy acidity level in the soil, they will provide two lime applications per year. As a general rule, they will avoid weed control on newly seeded areas automatically.
Spring Clean-Up
Once a year, in late April, the landscape company hauls away fallen branches collected by residents from the common areas and residential yards. Convenient pick up locations for branches from residential yards are designated. Please DO NOT leave items in your yard , on common area grass or on a residential street. (also see pitch-in)
Yard Waste
Homeowners may dispose of yard waste at Manomet Transfer Station on Beaver Dam Road. Please contact the Town for additional information. [Pinehills Design Review Guidelines]
Snow Removal
Great Island contracts snow removal to a private plowing contractor. The contractor plows all of the streets, walking trails, driveways and front walks within Great Island, except for Great Island (the street) which is plowed by The Pinehills.
If you have any questions about snow removal, contact someone of the Snow Committee.
Snow Plow Damage - If you have any lawn or property damage, as the result
of plowing, please call the Snow Committee.
| Please park all vehicles inside garages during snowstorms. This allows the snow removal contractor to clear all driveways to the best of their ability. |

Irrigation water for Great Island common areas is drawn from the groundwater by two wells located within Great Island).

Do you know where your water comes from?
The Pinehills Water Company - The Pinehills is serviced by a private water company. Water rates are established with the approval of the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy.
Sewer
Do you know where your wastewater goes?
The Pinehills Sewer Treatment Facility - The Pinehills is serviced by its own waste water company.
Post Office
The Pinehills operates a U.S. Post Office at The Village Green.
Town Of Plymouth
Police
Neither The Pinehills nor Great Island have private security services.
Comment By A Resident: Is anyone else bothered by speeding vehicles through our neighborhoods? With all the foot & bicycle traffic in our beautiful neighborhoods (especially in the warmer weather) lets not wait for a accident to occur before we do something.
Fire
Fire services are provided by the Town of Plymouth from the Fire Station located at 12 Pine Hills Drive on land donated to the Town of Plymouth for that purpose.
Plymouth Council on Aging
The Plymouth Council on Aging provides services and activities for seniors in the area. They publish a monthly newsletter called 'Not So Old News'. You can pick up a copy at the clubhouse.
Plymouth Recycling
The Recycling Center is located on Beaver Dam Road (second entrance shared with the Transfer Station) and is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm. For more information please call the Recycling Center 508-830-4160.
The Difficult To Manage Station is also located on Beaver Dam Road (first entrance) where items such as CRT's furnature, carpet, etc., not collected by Great Island's trash hauler can be disposed of for a fee.
Once a year, the town holds a Household Hazardous Waste collection (dates announced) at the DPW office in Camelot Park.

NOTE: Part of the Town’s new program includes a license plate scan at each of the transfer stations. If a license plan is scanned that is not registered with the Town, a $50.00 fine will automatically be sent in the mail to that vehicle’s registered owner.

Grass Clippings & Leaves
The Town of Plymouth requires that yard waste be disposed of in accordance with the Town By-Laws. The disposal of grass clippings, leaves, and yard debris must be brought to the Manomet Transfer Station on Beaver Dam Road where it is added (without bags) onto the compost pile. This refuse is not allowed in your weekly trash pick up.

From time to time, we are reducing the animal population in our area accidently (road kill). Should you come across an unfortunate critter, please call Animal Control at 508-888-1186 to report it and request its removal. Give the exact location to help expedite its removal.

Most doctors (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) in the area are not accepting new patients.
Hospitals
The Jordan Hospital Emergency Room has a four (4) to six (6) hour waiting period.

The nearest medical center is the South Shore Medical Center in Kingston which is a 20 min. drive north at Exit 10.
Urgent Care (same day appointment)
The South Shore Medical Center in Kingston is the nearest urgent care facility. You must be a patient to use the urgent care facility.
