Exterior Vinyl Siding Mold

While we enjoy living in the coastal community of Plymouth, living close to the ocean and in the wooded settings of Pinehills can give rise to moisture issues which have a negative cosmetic and structural effect on our houses. One of these issues is the accumulation of green mold on the exterior of our vinyl siding, usually beginning on the North facing walls. If left untreated, a small area will grow quickly spreading with the passing of weeks. Mold is very unattractive to our neighbors and it impacts home values.

Vinyl siding should be washed down annually with soap and water. Power washing is something to consider. For those that want a professional to do the job, there are many local vendors that specialize in vinyl cleaning. Consult the local yellow pages or Google search for options.

In Great Island, each owner is responsible for the maintenance and appearance of their unit. Please look at your home and take the needed action to deal with this condition.
